Possible CAUSES
for pain
in the neck, arm and shoulder area

Pain and tension in the area of the musculoskeletal system can have many causes, but are very often due to incorrect posture and especially to long periods of sitting or standing, while monotonous work or by natural, age-related wear of the intervertebral discs.

The nerve cords of the arms, the shoulders and the neck area run in the area of the cervical spine. There complaints can originate.

What burdens our neck?
  • From a physical point of view, we "only" carry the weight of the head which burdens our braces (the vertebrae and especially the intervertebral discs) on a daily basis.

  • A proof of the pressure effect: every person is about 1.5 to 2 cm shorter in the evening than in the morning.

Due to the daily load, the discs are tensioned and laterally deformed. This often leads to a painful pressure on the surrounding nerve roots. The pain can radiate in the neck, back or arm area.

Prophylaxis and Therapy

The negative effects of pressure on the intervertebral discs are treated by extension.

An extension can be achieved:

  • with the help of external forces (glisson loop)

  • by extension handles, or

  • by passive lying on the elativ pillow
