Ergonomics in the neck area

An ergonomic neck pillow basically serves to support the neck with the cervical spine in the correct position!
But why do ergonomic pillows on the market have so many different support profiles?

Supine position

The shape of the cervical spine (1) in the SIDE POSITION should be straight. All providers agree on that. When lying on conventional pillows, the head end (3) is more or less embedded in the material. The ergonomic shape of the support in the neck area (2) is also shown very differently ... and most pillows are very soft.

Should the cervical spine (1) in the BACK POSITION be straight, or slightly curved or very curved? Should she be placed in the throat, or almost bump into the heart?

Should the "anatomical" support profiles (2) be square, rounded or perfectly circular? For most, the head should be upturned and hang the neck in an empty room (4).

Is not human anatomy a constant?

Why are there so many display variants, depending on the manufacturer?

Presumably, because many providers try to show that the same cushion profile would be suitable for the lateral position as well as for the supine position. Thus, the shape and position of the spine have fallen victim to the commercial artist ...

The wrong graphical representation of the anatomy and cervical spine would not have been necessary because lying on such pillows it is the body that deforms the pillow material and not the pillow that displaces the cervical spine into the neck. This will be shown in the next pictures.

How is the elativ - ergonomics resulted?

The following pictures show the material deformations and the stresses that lie on a "neutral lying profile" (gray with deformation lines).

  • The head deforms the material, "nests" itself into it and forms itself the support profiles (2) that it needs ... but by compacting the superfluous material (shown in blue color).

  • As a result, stresses in the material, pressure at the head and indirectly also on the intervertebral discs form.

  • The face is also "embedded" in the page position in the material.

  • The neck "hangs" in the supine position on the one hand in the hollow space (4) of the transition between the bed, pillow and neck and on the other hand by the compressed material (2) pushed upwards

The supporting profiles (2) correspond perfectly to body anatomy and were used in the construction of elativ cushions.

Summary on ERGONOMICS
of the
elativ pillow

elativ_orthopedic_pillow_against_NECK_PAINS_and_TENSENESS_with_EXTENSION_STRETCHING_and_perfect_ERGONOMICS
  1. The spine (1) is ergonomically supported both in the side and in the supine position.

  2. The perfect, ergonomic support profiles in the side and supine position

  3. A free head and NO PRESSURE at the head! By simply lying, it dominates a gentle EXTENSION in the neck area!

  4. Gentle transition between neck, bed and pillow.

Yellow color: the cushion warms up under its own BODY TEMPERATURE in the contact area. The neck is warmed, but the head remains cool.

It is obvious that:

The right pillow profile for the supine position would be unsuitable for the side position and vice versa!

The two anatomically different layers require different support profiles!
